No. Comcast High-Speed Internet service uses a cable modem to connect to the internet.

What is the Personal Web Page service?

Comcast Personal Web Pages let you create your own custom web pages for other internet users to access and visit. It's a great way to share information about yourself, tell people about your interests and hobbies, share photos, provide a list of your favorite web sites, and much more.

What is Online Storage?

Online Storage resides on a network drive (not your hard drive) and allows you to store various files in a virtual storage space. Online Storage allows you to store all your files -- MP3s, digital photographs, or video clips -- in one location and organize them for easy access from any computer with Internet access.

How much online storage space will I get?

Your online storage space is shared with your personal web pages. Each Comcast user name is allocated 25 MB of file storage for Personal Web Pages and Online Storage.

How much space will I get for each Comcast email account?

You will have up to 250MB per email account

Is there a limit on the size of the files that I can attach to email messages?

Prior to sending an email message with a large attachment, please be sure that the recipient can accept the message. If your message is larger than the recipient's email box size limit, the message will be rejected. With your Comcast email accounts, the email attachment file size limit is 10 MB.

If you need to send files that are larger than 10 MB, there may be a solution available to you: File Transfer Protocol (FTP) FTP was designed to transfer files of all sized over the internet. You may also use your personal web pages to transfer files.

How do I protect my PC from worms, viruses, and other intruders?

To protect your PC, we strongly recommend the use of a firewall. Using a firewall:

Protects your personal information by placing a barrier between worms, hackers, and your hard drive

Records potentially hostile internet traffic and alerts you to attempted hacks, viruses, and the like. This is valuable information to use when reporting security problems.

I've heard that DSL is a dedicated line and cable is a shared line. Is that true?

This is partially true. Cable lines are shared within a neighborhood and if a number of subscribers in the same neighborhood all attempt to download files at the same time, performance will be slowed. What DSL service providers aren't telling you is that while DSL subscribers do not share the line in their neighborhood, they do share the link between their own central office and the network backbone. So the bottleneck still occurs during peak usage -- it just occurs in a different place in the network. Also, DSL slows down the further you get from their central office.
